About
“¡Hola! ¿Qué más?”*
Learn and serve in the beautiful and bio-diverse coffee growing region of Chinchiná. This UNESCO Heritage city is a vibrant gem where emerald-green mountains cradle sprawling coffee plantations. The air is perfumed with the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans, a testament to the town’s deep-rooted coffee tradition. Financial Aid is available for eligible students. IPSL also accepts AmeriCorps Segal Education awards.
Dive into Spanish language learning while serving the local community. Take academic courses to learn more about Colombia's history. Some courses are excursion based and will take you to Cartagena and/or Medellin. Courses can include:
*Beginning to Advanced Spanish Language
*COSA (Community Organizing and Social Activism)
*From Escobar to Santos: Socio-Historical Perspectives on Modern Colombia
*Conflict, Peace and Reconciliation: Comparative Peace Processes in Colombia, South Africa, North Ireland and Rwanda
*Afro-Colombian History and Culture
Volunteer opportunities may include:
*Migration / Displaced Persons (forced internal migration and conflicts)
*Peace Process in Post Conflict Areas

*Animal Welfare
*Social Services
*Home Building
*Education
*The Elderly
Whether you come to study Spanish, take some of IPSL's academic courses, or to volunteer (or a combination!), the setting and the warmth of the people are awe-inspiring. Chinchiná is a place where time slows down, and every moment is infused with the magic of Colombia’s coffee heartland.
