Want to learn Arabic? Jordan is the smartest place to do it.
Arabic is spoken by over 400 million people and is essential for diplomacy, business, journalism, and international relations. And right now, learning it inside certain other countries isn't for everyone. Jordan changes the equation.
Amman, Jordan
Amman is safe, modern, and deeply Arab — a city where tradition and cosmopolitan energy share the same block. You'll hear classical Arabic in a mosque, pick up colloquial dialect at a souk, and debate politics over tea in a rooftop café. Home to nearly 4 million people, it's a dynamic capital that's genuinely welcoming to outsiders, without the sanitized feel of tourist-facing cities. Jordan is consistently ranked among the region's most stable countries for international students.
You'll learn the language in a place that actually uses it — every day, everywhere you go.
The Language Program
IPSL's partner school offers courses for every type of learner: group, private, combined, academic, online, and teacher training. Whatever your level or goal, there's a format built for you.
Cultural Immersion
Beyond the classroom, a full weekly calendar of on-campus activities — Arabic calligraphy, henna, traditional lunches, cultural open days — keeps you connected to Jordanian life. A language-partner program pairs students with local university students for genuine exchange.
Three excursions are built into the program: a traditional Jordanian breakfast in downtown Amman at the end of week one; Petra at the end of week two — an ancient city carved into rose-red sandstone cliffs and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World; and Jerash and Ajloun at the end of week three, home to the best-preserved Roman city outside Italy and a medieval Islamic fortress with sweeping views of the Jordan Valley.
Accommodation
Options include private studio apartments, standard apartments, and homestay with local Jordanian families — the fastest path to fluency, and often the most memorable part of the experience. Airport transfer is available.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available for eligible students. IPSL accepts the AmeriCorps Segal Education Award.
