About

Xin chào!

The world is your campus. Hanoi is your classroom.

Dynamic, ancient, and electric with possibility — Hanoi has been Vietnam's cultural heart for nearly a thousand years, and right now it's transforming faster than ever. A young, vibrant population is shaping its future in real time. With IPSL, you don't just witness that evolution. You become part of it.

A Program Built for Real Impact IPSL's Hanoi program is anchored at the Center for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS) — a hub where Vietnamese and international students learn, live, and work side by side. Founded by a former Hanoi National University lecturer and the visionary behind Volunteers for Peace Vietnam, CSDS is the real deal. This isn't a tourist experience dressed up as service. It's the genuine thing.

Academics With Purpose All courses taught in English, all eligible for credit or audit — and all rooted in hands-on, community-based learning:

  • Environmental Science and Sustainable Development
  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Global Health and the Environment
  • Vietnamese Language (Language Across the Curriculum)
  • Advocacy Research (sponsored or independent, supporting local NGOs)
  • Community Organizing & Social Activism — Vietnamese context
Volunteer With Purpose Beyond the classroom, you'll work directly with underserved youth and families — focused on leadership training, education, and community support. You won't just study development. You'll live it, alongside Vietnamese peers, educators, and community leaders who are doing the work every single day.

Live, Connect, Belong Modern dormitories shared with Vietnamese and international volunteers. Most meals included on-site. A built-in community from day one — because the friendships you form here are part of the education.

"Pure bliss — absolutely worthwhile. I felt completely at home in Hanoi and still happy-cry thinking about it. I saw sights I'd never dreamed of, made 20+ friends from all over the world, and always felt safe. The teachers were incredible, the staff endlessly supportive, and the culture is genuinely magical. The classes gave me real insight into the world around me — and I carry it with me every single day. Trust the people in charge, keep an open mind, and go. I promise you won't regret it." — Paige B., Hanoi Vietnam, 2024
