Ireland Study Abroad Reflections: Comprehensive Reviews of Past Programs
This was worth absolutely everything. I still have dreams that I am going back to Ireland--I'd go back in a second ! I learned that even though there is a country in Europe that speaks English as their official language there are still so many differences in culture and traditions. We also have many things in common. I am now looking for other opportunities to travel somewhere else in order to experience a new culture.

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
All of the living arrangements worked out nicely. The first place in Doolin was perfect, the hotel in Roundstone was absolutely adorable and gorgeous, the hostel in Galway was certainly a different experience and the hotel in Dublin was fantastic. We didn't really need to buy anything except to "rent" the towels at the hostel in Galway. |
* Food: |
We all chose what we wanted to eat, and I personally loved everything I ate, but it wasn't that different than what I was used to in America. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The day when we traveled to Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey, Roundstone and had an Irish dancing lesson was definitely my favorite day. All of the attractions and events were well thought out--the only complaint was we felt as if we saw a lot of churches and would have liked a little bit more variety on that part. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
