Ireland Study Abroad Reflections: Comprehensive Reviews of Past Programs

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely. It helped me sort out a lot of things in my life.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Perfect balance for study abroad.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They helped us deal with the difficulties of being abroad, as well as the bureaucratic differences of the two countries, however I wish I had known about it beforehand.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The only problem was the heating--it was terrible, especially in the coldest winter on Irish record.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Too many to count.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

A few incidents happened in the city but overall Dublin was extremely safe; I never had anything stolen or was particularly worried about my safety.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50Euro. Most people spend a huge amount, but I found it fairly easy to ration things.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Traveling costs pop up a lot more than I thought. And just going out on the weekends was really expensive.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
