Can't wait to go back to Buenos Aires Past Review
By Stephanie M (Communications and History, University of Pittsburgh - Bradford) for
ISA Study Abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Absolutely, I made great friends, had priceless memories and experiences that none of my friends at home have experienced.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Teaching methods were definitely different, but I suspect that has more to do with the Latin American style than the school |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Awesome! Friendly, helpful and made the experience even better |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The house was good enough and in a good enough area. How ever my host mom was not a good experience, though most people I knew loved their host families, I did not get along with mine. |
* Food: |
Host family's food wasn't good but that has nothing to do with the program. Argentine food is great in some ways but in others I didn't like it. Either way, I found some things that are now my favorite foods regardless of things I didn't like about Argentine food. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Iguazu, Tigre, asados. Buenos Aires in itself is enough of a cultural experience though |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
It is a big city with its risks but if you use common sense and be careful, you are fine. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Language
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Great experience! But don't be afraid to speak up about any potential host family problems, not necessarily little things, but things that could negatively impact an otherwise great experience. |
