Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading system I received from my host country professor was very different than that of my US professor. Our U.S. professor is known for being a very strict, and hard grader. I worked very hard on my assignments and received an A in the class from my U.S. Professor. The professor for Buenos Aires gave me a C+. I spoke to the Argentinian professor and she said the grade was very good for the class. She gave me very little feedback and didn't give me direction on how to alter my assignments to her liking. My respected U.S. Professor also read my assignments and also agreed with me.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I feel it should be noted that Americans are not culturally used to older women taking off their shirts when it is warm out. I came home one night and my host mother was in the hot apartment with no shirt or bra on. When I opened the door she quickly covered herself up, however it was very awkward. She should always be prepared for the student to come home.

* Food:

Food and accommodations were great.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The museums and the trip to see Las Madres was very insightful.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

My host mother only spoke Spanish. This was very useful. I used Spanish more than English during this experience.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
