The most rewarding experience ever. Past Review
By Ashley A (French Language, Literature, Berea College) - abroad from 06/29/2015 to 07/24/2015 with
ISA Study Abroad in Lille, France
It was definitely worthwhile. I learned so much about the culture. IT was great to get to study in another country and see how the education systems are different.

Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
We were very encouraged to use the language. In the classrooms we were only allowed to speak French. If we spoke English by accident, our professors would say, "No English allowed!" Only French until you are out of this classroom. Even when the course was over and you were leaving, you were still only allowed to speak French until you were out of the room completely. I loved this part of the program. I was glad that speaking any other language besides French in the classroom was forbidden. This way you learn French quickly and it's a good way for you to improve. |

How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Advanced |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | French 300 |

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | Really speak the language as much as possible. Immerse yourself in the language. Speak in your native language as little as possible. |
