Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I was able to enroll in two classes lectured in Spanish at the Universidad del Pacifico. The school was very beautiful and offered great activities, learning centers, and entracurricular learning experiences. The teachers really did care abotu the individual student. The teachers were also very well educated and has a high level of experience in their field. The class on Social and Economic reality of Peru was taught by two teachers. One with experience in the ministry of the economy, and the other with much experience in the social programs being launched in poor communities araound Lima.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration of ISA is the MOST FRIENDLY you could ever imagine. I was recommended by a friend to use ISA. Yet, I ended up doing two different programs with this agency during my undergraduate experience because of their positive contribution to my experience.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Amazing culture, amazing food, anc amazing family life. This was one of the major highlights of my trip.

* Food:

The best food any time of the day I asked for it. She was Peruvian and had chinese heritage so there was amazing fusion in the dishes my host mother prepared.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I made great friends. Peruvians have nothing against the United States. They are very friendly and open if you are able to show respect for their culture and norms.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I would not say Peru is one of the safest places in the world, but I always felt secure. The ISA program addressed my needs and questions.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced the lanugage with the students in my program and with the teachers of my classes. I was able to approach and become friends with the Peruvian students in the cafeteria during the coffee breaks. Also, my host family was very friends and loved to talk only in Spanish with me no matter how bad my Spanish was that day.

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
