By (Computer Science, Mathematics, University of Denver) for

ISA Study Abroad in Paris, France

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I would certainly do it again if I could. It is interesting to see how European perspectives differ.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Teachers used a variety of teaching methods and class wasn't boring.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

All the food is good. Enjoy.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Make sure to check event calendars while you are there! The ISA staff can also tell you about different cultural events. Some of the things I went to included the independant vinyard wine tasting convention, the lighting of the Christmas markets on Les Champs Elysees, and attending a mass in Notre Dame.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The pharmacies are easy to access, speak English, and can handle anything that is not serious.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
Language acquisition improvement?

Most people could speak English, but I only used my French skills to get around. I practised French with my host family, in class (all my classes were in French with a mix of other foreign students).

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?
