Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I found it much easier to learn Spanish in a culture where it is regularly used.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The ISA resident staff was amazing and were willing to help us with anything we needed.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Everything was provided and my family was great!

* Food:

The only issue I had was not communicating my dislikes with my madre.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

All of the field trips were eye opening experiences

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I never felt unsafe. It was just a matter of common sense.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

The best way to improve is to interact with your host family and do a language exchange with a local student. I tried to use Spanish as much as possible but had no trouble finding someone to speak English as a last resort.

Comments: It was challenging however it was well worth it. The location and field trips were very helpful to my learning. I participated about the same, but because it was taught in Spanish it was a little more difficult.
