Sevilla! Past Review

ISA Study Abroad in Sevilla, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was absolutely worthwhile. Before I studied abroad, I felt that it was silly to graduate as a language major only feeling mostly competent in the language. Studying abroad with ISA was the best choice I could have made- I feel so much more confident about my language skills!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I learned so much, especially at the University of Sevilla. The workload was manageable, and the way the classes were set up was perfectly suited to language learning.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program's administration was phenomenal. I loved working with them, and had the best experiences. If I ever needed information about getting around the city or planning trips, they were always available to help.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

The food was amazing! Spanish food is the best.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We went on many excursions, all of which were brilliant. My favorite, by far, was the Morocco trip. I almost didn't do it because it cost a little extra, but it was worth it for sure!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The city was so safe. I didn't feel comfortable walking around late at night by myself, but I don't think I would feel okay doing that anywhere.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Live with a host family! That is the best way to improve in a language-using it daily. In Madrid, a slightly more touristy city, you could find people who spoke English, but hardly any I met in Sevilla spoke English, which turned out to be a great thing!
