Edinburgh, Scotland became a new home. Past Review
By Kaycee M (Psychology - BS, San Jose State University) for
ISEP Exchange: Edinburgh - Exchange Program at Edinburgh Napier University
Absolutely worth it. Leaving was the hardest part of the trip. I made some amazing friends I will have for life and I learned a lot about myself.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 0-2 weeks |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
It was so different that I found it a bit scary towards exam time. I definitely prefer the more familiar American methods. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The administration seemed overloaded. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The flat was acceptable but lacked comforts. Many things that would have made the place more home-y were not allowed. All of the cookware and flatware were to be purchased by the new occupants and though they were in good condition when I left, I was not allowed to leave them in the flat but required to dispose of them. |
* Food: |
could have used a bigger food stipend |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
great field trips with the culture class, amazing friendships formed in the archery club, international student association field trips were great too. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
encouraged us to stay healthy, eat healthy, to register with a doctor, and to practice safe sexual habits. But they did not address the overall dangers of the city. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
