The teaching style was much more personal then that of the United States. The professors were much more interested in your education and students were expected to engaged in class discussions or exercises daily.

Overall, The administration was very accessible and helpful.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Although the city was not what I expected, it was relatively safe and my home was located within ten minutes walkiing distance from the University. My house was very safe, very clean, and I enjoyed being around my family. The food was also amazing, and I was very comfortable.

My host mother was an amazing cook! And when I was not eating at home, I enjoyed eating out at restaurants.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I met some very interesting people who I traveled with during vacations. We spent two weeks backpacking from the Gulf of Mexico, around the Atlantic coast through Chiapas, to the Pacific coast, though Oaxaca, to Mexico city and back to Monterrey. This was not a program that the school provided, but it was my most memorable time in Mexico.

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

In all honesty, I was a little paranoid when I read about traving to Mexico. But I realized that most of the advice I received from family, friends, and the University were highly exaggerated. It may be different for other people, but I felt very safe. Had I needed healthcare, It would have been available to me.

I learned more Spanish in one semester, then I have in my four years of trying to study the language. Not only did my classes cover every tense succsesfully by the end of the term, I was able to converse fluently by the second month I was there.
