Personal Information

The term and year this program took place: Spring 2009

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The mix between European and American administration was extremely helpful!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

This was a terrible process for me. I enjoyed my roommates, but the landlord was terrible and the housing was not enjoyable at all. I would never recommend it to anyone or would live there again. The location was great but the actually apartment did not have a good shower system, the washer and dryer broke as soon as we got there, there was not enough heat at times, the landlord was absolutely awful!!

The only good things were my roommates and the location of Bayswater London compared to the school and entertainment

* Food:

very Americanized

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Some was expensive to do, but the club and pub scene was very fun and the sights were very entertaining

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

There was health insurance and places available if you got sick. I did not feel unsafe with my interaction with people at all. If I did, emergency contacts were available.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Way too much!
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Please spend wisely. Make a budget chart if you can. Allot enough money or the appropriate amount of money towards different activities. Make sure you have enough for rent!

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Fluent
Language acquisition improvement?

Learned new lingo
