Ithaca College: London - Ithaca College London Center

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Amazing, but I answered no because I would have rather experienced more of the British academic system.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My professors were all INCREDIBLE. The workload wasn't very challenging, but the experiential aspect of my abroad education was unbeatable. I spent most of my art history class time walking around museums, I toured the BBC studios with my European Mass Media class and I saw three concerts with my British Pop Music class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I didn't like taking classes with solely American students. Many of them were jaded and unappreciative of all of the wonderful things that we got to experience, but I understand that this can't be helped, as it's the nature of the Ithaca College London Centre programme.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my neighbourhood and my neighbours. The flat wasn't the nicest in the world, but the price couldn't be beat!

* Food:

N/A.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Everything was incredible.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I didn't get sick, and I never felt unsafe!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? London was very, very expensive. Orientation should include more on how to save money. It was difficult, but satisfying, to figure out how to pinch pennies by myself.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Do your grocery shopping at The Cooperative or Saisbury's. Good quality food and it's waaaaay cheaper.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
