Ithaca College: London - Ithaca College London Center

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have never learned so much in my life and I'm not sure I ever will again.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was perfect. The faculty understood that we were abroad and that traveling and exploring London was paramount to academics.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff at ICLC are THE BEST. They get to know every student by name and truly care for the students. They consistently went above and beyond what was required of them to make students' experience abroad better.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The trips planned by the staff at ICLC were always really fun and the events they held were always great.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent about $200 for rent, $40 for food (if you eat in a lot), $20 for transportation ($80 for the month w/ a student card), $60 on theatre and $40 on alcohol.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? London is VERY expensive. Things like landlord fees and transportation add up. Once you learn how to say no to people ('no I won't pay $20 to go to a club') then it gets a lot easier.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I would give anything to go back to study in London. While it is very expensive, I loved every minute of it.

Comments: This was by far the most educational class I have ever had. While the professor is very different from American professors, I learned so much about London theatre and history that it still amazes me.
