Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The work was challenging; however, when it came to grading, the professors didn't really care. I did all the assignments, received nothing less than a B+, and attended every class and received the same grades as my roommate who missed most of the classes and did not do as well on the assignments. It seems as if the professor gave everyone a B or B+ dependent upon whether or not she liked you. If I had to do it over again, I would have spend more time as a tourist than as a student and would have received the same grades at the end.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Unless you had a serious medical condition or came across a large problem, the program administrators would just pass your inquiries and/or concerns to someone else, which by the time they got to it, it was already too late. I think most people let it slide because the 2 administrators were very attractive - 1 guy and 1 girl, both mid 20's.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

10 guys, 1 apartment, 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms, no dryer, washer was broken most of the time and it would take over 10 days to get someone out there to get it fixed - needless to say, a hostel would have been cheaper but would have provided similar amenities.

* Food:

Food in Italy is amazing - enough said

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program arranged some trips, but we mostly went on our own - with the program provided trips, you get what you pay for.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The city is much safer for guys than for woman. Always travel with a friend or in groups and don't be stupid (i.e. get hammered and forget where you are or have no one there to help you, don't go wondering off for some existential relief alone, if you have depression or emotional issues before you go - THE PROGRAM WILL NOT SOLVE THEM AND MAY RESULT IN SUICIDE.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
