Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I really enjoyed the class I took, it was art 491 and we had to write essays on our understandings of the time periods. It was work but we got to explore on our own which I think I learned the most through Italy's culture, and food. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The program was amazing, I didn't care when we all had to be in the big groups because I felt like it took away from us exploring with our small classrooms. I also didn't like that we didn't get to pick where we could go when the Vatican was taken away due to safely. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The place in Florence was not the greatest because of others smoking in the building, I was sick most of that time. The hotel in Rome was amazing, it was clean and very nice people. |
* Food: |
Food was amazing, make sure you try everything. The food is what will stay with me forever. Make sure you eat a lot of pizza and drink lots of wine. It had so much taste and flavor. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I love how everyone in Italy had style, it looked like everyone just walked out of a magazine. It was beautiful to see everyone talking to one another and enjoying life, you don't see that much here in America. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I didn't need to use it. I was in Italy and didn't plan on going to the hospital for the smoking issue. |
* Safety: |
I felt very safe, make sure ladies travel in groups of least two. I didn't have that many problems. Just be smart. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It was not that hard. I used cash the whole time. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | about 300 euros altogether. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Budget before you go. It will help you and have the euros broken down because the checks are not divided. |

Comments: | Yes, the course was challenging but was not over the top. I enjoyed that our homework was writing essays because you could go to a coffee shop and do the homework. You had to understand what time period you were in when writing the essays. I loved that our class was in the museums and a foot away from wonderful artwork. It seemed breath taking and a lot to remember, Italy is a beautiful country. |
