Study in London is expensive, yet still cheaper than New York Past Review
By Tina G (Economics., Barnard College) for
King's College London: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
It was worthwhile overall, because I made some very close friends both British and American (and French). I figured out my identity more and what I want to do in life, and I gained a whole new dimension to my sense of aesthetics. It also helped me to be more confident when I went abroad again to France.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
It was a different way of learning finance, because in my Management classes we would discuss current events in-depth and in a very practical way. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
We were not given enough information prior to departure. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
A very nice dorm in a beautiful neighborhood, with a housekeeper who cleaned our rooms each week.

Our housing was fairly nice but the neighborhood was incredibly beautiful. |
* Food: |
I loved all the vegetarian options in London restaurants. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
They were mainly for international/American students only, and therefore not many people participated. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
London is very safe and has great medical providers. I registered with the NHS very easily. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I don't remember exact amounts but it was less than what I normally spent in New York. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Plan to have enough for public transportation, but food and general living supplies tended to be cheaper than in New York, I think. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
Language acquisition improvement? |
I went to an English-speaking country. |
