KCL's humanities classes are very rewarding, and KCL has A LOT of societies. Past Review

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My biggest gain would probably be the European Union module I took. I learned so much about European politics & history in a perspective that I never would've learned if I stayed in the States. I also became a member of the KCL Varsity Pole Dancing team, which was very rewarding for me. All my best friends I made through the the team, and some of my favorite times in London I spent with the team. Pole dancing was something I did even prior to arriving in London, and I loved that I was able to pursue it at KCL, but do it with a whole team.

N/A

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Well, there wasn't much option for me since I didn't want to have to learn a foreign language but still wanted the study abroad experience. My year in London has definitely made me a different person that the one I would've become if I stayed in Middlebury.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $200+, but I had a part time job so I was more relaxed with my money.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • the humanity courses
  • the socieities--like literally there is a soceity for everything
  • London
* What could be improved?
  • the CS courses were lighter, comparing to high level CS courses at Midd
  • the Admin/Study Abroad Team at KCL is not very responsive, and a lot of the times of you have take matter into your own hands, definitely no baby-sitting
  • food in London is pretty awful, especially for European standard
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? How amazing the humanities courses are. I signed up for/ended up taking 6 Computer Science courses & 2 humanities courses, but I only needed 4 KCL CS courses to fulfill my Midd CS degree. I should've taken 2 more humanities courses.
