My New Home Past Review
By Cinira (Patrick Henry High School) - abroad from 06/25/2018 to 08/03/2018 with
Korea University: Seoul - International Summer Campus
I learned to be more independent and self-reliable during my experience abroad. Of course it is all fun and games, but throughout all the fun, at the end of it, you really learn to find yourself. Also, having to live almost two months with complete strangers was a challenge, and it will be for many people. That is one thing to overcome, the fascinating culture shock, meeting new people, adapting and understanding to many cultures that surrounds you.

Yes
Korea University is such a big place that I haven't had a chance to explore all of it yet. Also, Seoul is also a place that I would never get tired of. There's still so much to see and do. All the staffs were so friendly and amazing! They do their best for us to have fun and get the best out of not only KU but Korea. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Approximately $100 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Due to all the excitement, you would probably go all out because there is just so much to experience. However, don't rush your time to have fun! Actually spend your time wisely, and manage your money. Pick a certain amount of money to spend per day or else your money would really go down the drain, and you would have to live on 80 cent ramen for a while (yes, happened to me for a couple of days). |

A Look Back

|
* What could be improved? |
|
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | Overall, everything is amazing! There are very little flaws that may happen because of your own liking. For me personally, I wish I knew that KU have an underground area where their campus store is held, or all the shortcuts to reach the lecture building, and all the mini coffee shops hidden around the campus! Yes, there are still a lot to explore (just wish I knew them a little earlier) |
Reasons For Studying Abroad

The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
