What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained social skills, a sense of self-worth and self-appreciation. Most importantly I found the most amazing friends ever!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes seem easy at first, but this is an illusion! Exams are much harder and more detailed than in class material! Also you will be with first years, who don't care as much as their first year doesn't count. Don't take study habits from them

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program is more geared towards London students, which can be frustrating, but they do make more of an effort to involve you than most programs. Very nice staff and faculty

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lovely housing! Excellent system that really helps you make friends. Works so well, it's a bit heart-wrenching.

* Food:

I didn't have a meal plan, but English food is okay. The city center and campus have a lot of different food restaurants so that is nice. I heard the cafeteria food sucks

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

You can definitely learn about a lot of British Culture, as people are very friendly. The school is big enough to allow privacy but small enough for you to see familiar faces. Lots of different cultures allow for a unique experience.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

We were provided GPs and private health insurance.

* Safety:

Definitely felt safe, but as always you do have to be careful and responsible.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? roughly 200 pounds per week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? ask for a student discount, this is acceptable and very wide-spread in the UK. Also, get a purple card!

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
