Lankey: Morocco - French and Arabic Study Abroad Programs
I had some really amazing weeks in Morocco! The teachers were really good and the classes were pretty small so I felt like I really learned a lot. I met a lot of amazing people and took part in some activities Lankey provided like horse-riding, dancing, and cooking. My time in Morocco with Lankey really worth it. I was able to learn a new language and have fun at the same time which is hard to find easily. Also, meeting Moroccan people was a pleasure for me. they were so welcoming and friendly and helped to feel integrated with the local culture. would recommend it to everybody!

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I learned a lot in my classes and they do a good job of having different forms of classes to teach students through. All my classes did a lot of hands-on teaching and the teachers generally taught pretty well. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
They did a great job to keep us on track. They are extremely organized and very friendly. There is always someone there to help you with anything including directions and advice. You get picked up from the airport and you go into Rabat with all your new friends. Also, they were available for me 24h. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
My housing was great! I was in Rabat in a nice neighborhood and so everything was extremely close and it really helped my transition to be in the center of it all. There were constant activities and places to explore to keep me busy. The housing itself was very clean and organized. |
* Food: |
I know you will hear this a lot, but it is true. There are so much to taste: Tajine, Couscous, Bastilla, and many more. What I liked the most about Moroccan food is everything is different. There are delicious meals for vegetarians and vegans too. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I felt so integrated with the Culture. Lankey's administrators, Professors, and my local friends helped with that a lot. I really had a great time. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Since Lankey is Rabat, which is a famous city in Rabat, I was feeling safe during the stay. I did not feel scared of going out alone. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I think it was easy for me to stay on the budget since Morocco is not that expensive to live in. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 75$ |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
The program really encourages us to speak either French or Arabic (depends on the student's choice). |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | intermediate 1 |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | The best way to improve the language chosen is to practice it as much as you can during your stay like with local friends since they speak it fluently. it is really a plus. |
