London School of Economics (LSE): London - General Course, Year-Long Study Abroad Programme
I think coming to London was a great experience! But i feel that i could have just stayed at OSU and taken the same class for cheaper and probably learned more.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
If you are looking for a study abroad program where you want to have fun as well as take the class seriously this is not the program for you. The class I took is meant to be a year long class, and it is literally crammed into a three week period. The class goes way too fast and its hard to remember all the information necessary for the tests. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
I had alot of problems with the summer school office at LSE. At registration they were so unorganized that it took 3 hours to get a library card. On the first day of class I realized they had me enrolled in a different class when my name didnt show up on the role list. So i had to wait in the office to get it changed. A week later at the midterm i still wasnt on the role and I had to go back to the office and get it changed again. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I had a one bedroom at Norhumberland house. Its a very nice building, and my room was perfect for me. |
* Food: |
The quality of food is very lacking in London. Unless you want to pay 15lbs ($22.50) per meal at a decent restaurant there isnt alot of options other than subway and mcdonalds. I had planned on cooking alot while i was here since my dorm has a kitchen, but its very hard to find a store in London where you can buy necessary ingredients. Mostly everyone eats pre made meals, and fresh ingredients are expensive. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Walking around London is a cool experience. It's a beautiful city, but also very very busy. Getting from one place to another takes a long time and the main attractions are always swarming with tourists. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I never had any problems with safety. i would just recommend that you keep your money safe. I havent had any incidents but I also stay away form the really touristy areas. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Direct Enrollment/Exchange
* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? | Direct Enrollment |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | I would recommend coming to this program with some friends. I've made friends here, but we dont all share the same interests, and im not one who studies every night. Most of the people who attend this school do. |
Individual Course Reviews

Intermediate Macroeconomics |
Course Department: | EC202 |

Instruction Language: | English |
Comments: | TOO fast for a three week course. Information is very challenging. The teacher expected you to come in knowing all the Intermediate Microeconomics, which very few of the class did, so most people had no idea what was going on for the first week or so. |
