Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Too much work outside of class, professors didn't understand the American Teaching System and didn't understand why I was confused when I was.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Strength: Advisors were VERY knowledgeable and answered all of my questions Weakness: Housing - I felt very vulnerable with my landlord and the housing office in general because I couldn't speak the language and felt that they could easily take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge and naive mind with extra charges, repairs, etc.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Experiment! If your going to a country where they don't speak English, just try something out even if you don't know what it is. It could surprise you.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

School-arranged field trips were fun!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Watch your stuff (purse, wallet, etc.) But my overall safety was fine.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Food - about 50 Euro depending on how often I went out to eat. Traveling - SAVE UP MONEY!!! You will want to travel a lot and EVERYTHING costs money.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Unexpected expenses - Initial class participation fees. The classes were expensive to take!
