What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Absolutely. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, even though I don't have any money left. The knowledge and experience I've gained have made me into a better person.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I felt like there was too much homework given. It often interfered with my plans to experience the local history and culture because I was stuck in my apartment doing school work.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I really appreciated all of the efforts of the LdM staff to help us experience the traditional Italian lifestyle.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I thought my apartment was in a wonderful neighborhood. We were close to the Vatican and I felt very safe. It was convenient for shopping, and near the metro as well.

* Food:

LdM staff gave us great recommendations for places to eat.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I loved all of the weekend trips we were taken on. The activities were all things I wouldn't have done on my own.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt very safe here. I did carry around a tube of pepper spray, just in case, which really helped me feel safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I tried to limit my spending to 50 euros per week, for food and any necessary supplies. This way I had plenty of left over money for travel.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make a budget before you leave and try to stick to it. Otherwise you won't realize until all of it is gone! Don't spend hundreds of dollars on alcohol. You're not in a foreign country to get wasted. You can do that at home.

What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? None
