What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes. I gained so much more independence and confidence from being forced to live in a completely different country with a different culture than what I was used to. I now am more patient, and appreciate much more.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Food was the most costly aspect of this trip. Especially when travelling, you are forced to eat out every meal so it adds up quick. When you are at your apartment though, it is very easy to just go to the grocery store and buy food for a few days.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? Elementary Italian 1
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

My instructor's teaching style was to be desired, and really did not improve my language ability. She chose to teach through intimidation, rather than have us actually enjoy the language we were learning to speak, so I found myself not wanting to learn the language.

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment
