What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much: independence, thinking on my feet, learning about new cultures. I learned about my Italian roots and felt more connected to my heritage and my family. I loved Europe and traveling around.

The dorms are very old, and sometimes the roommate arrangements do not work out well. There were a few people who had to switch roommates, but most of the time it is a good match.

The Euro/American exchange rate is pretty dismal right now, so it's not just Italy. I spent most money on eating out and the wine.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Bring a lot of shoes and cute outfits, because those are really expensive once you get here.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Go to the student areas of Rome (near the university, in Trastevere, in Testaccio) and really talk to the locals. They like hearing Americans try to speak Italian!
