Mente Argentina: Buenos Aires - Study Abroad and Internship Programs in Argentina

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was worthwhile for sure. I learned about new cultures because my roommates were from outside argentina but the other students where from Argentina. Also learned about living all bymyself

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I did an internship in finance it was intense because it was full time (9hs to 18hs) and it was a whole different work environment. Also I had amazing co-workers.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

At first I did not feel conformtable because it was not what I expected but I loved my roommates and the others who lived in the student residence.

* Food:

I chose student residence with a meal plan so I had someone who cooked for me. I really liked every meal (breakfast and dinner), I did not had lunch in there because of my internship responsabilities.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I just loved it. I want to repeat the experience, it was above my expectations and I built lifelong friendships.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I did not have health issues but they gave me hospitals and doctors options just in case.

* Safety:

I did not have any problem with safety but while in Argentina you must keep an eye on your personal belongings because pick-pocketing is common.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Worth the money and the staff were always there to help in anything

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I just had to spend money on food on weekends and lunch for weekdays, per week it was aproximately ARS 400
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Do it, do not hesitate. live the experience and always take care of yourself. If you want to get drunk, do it but have someone to take care of yourself.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?

0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language

They have spanish lessons but I am spanish native speaker

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Speak with natives, do not speak in your native language because you are native. Practice spanish, it is not easy but you will get through it

The Networker
An active student leader, it was important for you to network abroad as well. Once overseas, you sought out student clubs, volunteered with local organizations, or attended community events. You encouraged your friends join you, and often considered how you could reflect your international experiences in a resume.
