Messiah University: International Business Institute, Worldwide Summer Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This program taught me a lot. The corporate visits allowed us as students to listen to and interact with practical applications of the content we were learning in the classrooms. Some of the firms shared their strategies, others their marketing schemes, and all of them gave us a solid overview of how the company is run and its progress. Traveling while studying the economic systems and history of the different countries gave us understanding as to why the development of the countries looked the way they did. As Dr. LaFrance will say, this is a rigorous program. Be prepared, because you will be busy, and constantly moving, studying, and traveling (except for on Sundays). Also, it should be mentioned that the program is designed around Christ. We had devotions every morning, went to a different church every Sunday, and it is lead by a man who sincerely wants to follow Christ the best he can according to the Father's will (this was such a blessing). He mentioned to me that he sees this program as God's program, and that he desires is to run it faithfully. He also had a sincere care for the students and their learning. This is a great program for those who are considering doing international business. It will teach you how to be disciplined in performing well even though you may have jet lag or are just simply tired.
