Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
We had to pay for our meals in the dining hall, but food in China, especially at Chinese Universities is very cheap and affordable. Even going out to restaurants on weekends or nights was not terribly expensive. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | Approximately $20 for dining hall food a week. If we went out to eat, it was about $10 for food at a restaurant. Most food in China is really cheap and paying more than $5 for a meal got to feel expensive. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Go to dining hall if you really want to save money. Buy food for your room only if you know you will eat it within a week or so. |
