What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I think I gained a lot of beautiful memories and had the chance to meet such warm and welcoming people. I will always be thankful for the kindness that was shown to me in Japan. I will never forget the beautiful nature I had the privilege of enjoying.

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were definitely less rigorous than Middlebury classes, but I think the Psych content courses had interesting lessons that could have been taught at Middlebury as well. I think this is fine especially given that it leaves a lot more free time to explore Tokyo.

It was a good feeling to be able to go out late at night as a woman.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I met the most kindest people within the mitaka community that I don't think I could ever forget. I was also able to enjoy the rich scenery and culture of Japan, specifically Tokyo. I was also able to have fun outings with my friends very often thanks to the wonderful public transportation that made going out so accessible.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

The yen was super cheap, so we were very lucky.

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I think buying food at the supermarket for daily lunch and dinner is pretty cheap, conbini are cheap too but you might get tired of the same food options

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? I Think the internship and community service really helped a lot in terms of speaking.
