Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Not all, indeed the most important learning, takes place outside the classroom. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Was always available and helpful , but I didn't utilize it frequently. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I lived with a retired couple, their son, and an American roomate. My roomate and I had all meals provided, our own bathroom, and an incredible patio.

Family and food were fantastic, and the patio was great for studying, tanning, entertaining, or what have you. Plus, the location was great (just off of a main thouroughfare.) |
* Food: |
Great, if you love mexican food. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The best things to learn are done so outside the university. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
h1n1 was a big scare but precautions were omnipresent. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | I usually spent about 80 dollars per week, but that could have esily been cut down by eating out less, and not...entertaining myself so heavily while out on the town. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | always carry local currency, and always keep it in seperate groups. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Beginner |
Language acquisition improvement? |
I too often fell into the trap of agreeing to spoeak with a resident who knew english in english, rather than insisting on spanish. |
