Study Abroad at Murdoch University Past Review

Murdoch University: Perth - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I enjoyed my study abroad experience A LOT, but it is all about what you make of it. There were many things that I did not like, but there were many things that I did like. As long as you don't get the adminstrative details get to you, you should have a great time! Beaches around Perth are beautiful. I also enjoyed Syndey!! That is an amazing city!!

Personal Information

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

You have lectures 2 to 3 times a week. You also have a discussion once a week, which is mostly a review session. I found these discussion's to be very beneficial. I wrote 2 essays for each class. Which is more than I wrote for all my Binghamton economic classes combined.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Murdoch University admistration seemed to be lost at times. They stated they were changing systems and hired new employees. Lots of times they did not have answers to questions and did not follow up. However they were nice people.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lived with three other students. I had an ensuite, which is your own room and bathroom (toilet and shower) Murdoch Village, I was in the old village.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Spending habits should be the same as in the USA. You will use public transportation a lot unless you make friends with someone with a car.

Microeconomics B

Course Department: BUS361
Instructor: Dr Kumar Sathiendrakumar
Instruction Language: English
Comments: Hard to understand at times, heavy accent. Notes were good and recorded lectures so you could hear them again. This really helped to try to understand what he stated in class. Heard some students had issues with his grading style. If you work hard in his class, he sees that and works with you.
