What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
If I had different expectations it would have been better but as a whole I am glad I went. It is a beautiful area. I learned a lot about poverty which was and still is an area of economic research I want to explore.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It would seem to me that doing this program to learn anything more than the language will end in frustration.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

* Safety:

I would be extremely hesitant to send a female to certain parts of the city. The downtown area is probably fine.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? There are many opportunities to do fun and relatively inexpensive trips. That being said, if you do too many of them, it will add up. HAVE A TRAVEL BUDGET IN MIND BEFORE GOING! I did two big trips (to Chile and Iguazu Falls) and a small trip for a little under 1k just to sort of show how far your money will go.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Intermediate
Language acquisition improvement?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If you are not expecting to learn in the University, but want to got to Argentina, Tucuman is a great choice. I am very very happy to have chosen it over Buenos Aires. Tucuman offers small town friendliness but with lots of things to do.
