Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

While I learned a lot about Japanese culture and language, my proficiency of Japanese was not at the level where I feel like I can properly critique the level of education for a student studying non-Japanese language classes.

On-site administration of your program

Nichidai's administration really let me have the freedom that I wanted to have in my experience. If you expect someone to hold your hand through the whole process it might not be for you.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

About 1 hour from school by train. Small, but you get used to that real quick (plus you don't really want to be spending all your time in your dorm room, do you?)

Not bad, but still not used to salad and fish for breakfast.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

People/places awesome. One of the best experiences in my life.

Felt extremely safe. Didn't really have a need for the health system in Japan (didn't get sick), so I can't really say what its like.

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I feel that we were given all the tools and resources to learn Japanese, which is all one can really expect. While there were classes integrated with Japanese nationals, I felt that real immersion was slightly lacking.
