Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Overall, I thought that this program was great. They did a great job balancing out free time and "school" work.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The faculty was so amazing. They made the month that I was in Cambridge so fun and so memorable. They hosted fun events that helped to bond the students together, including "bops," cricket and soccer matches, and going to the bumps.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

For The Cambridge Tradition, we stayed in the dorms at Jesus College in Cambridge, which is located in close proximity to the town while being secluded enough to not be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the town (see google maps for reference). I got a single room with my own bathroom, which was pretty amazing. Though most people get single rooms, the single rooms are given upon a first-come first-serve basis, as are the bathrooms.

* Food:

We were on our own for lunch every day, which was nice since it gave us a variety of options. The breakfast was fine, but it was the same almost every day. The dinner was good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There wasn't really a local culture of Cambridge, but I felt like I got to know the town and the way of life of the people in it. However, there were so many people from all over the world that participated in the program. I left the program with friends from all around the world.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I never had any issue with healthcare during my travels. There were no vaccines necessary. The administration was very understanding of taking a sick day, but if you took a sick day you were not allowed out of your room all day unless you were going to see a staff member. There are also multiple drugstores in town, so medicines such as Advil, Tylenol, etc. were easily accessible.

* Safety:

I felt very safe the entire time that I was in Cambridge. For the most part, you are on your own, but I never went anywhere by myself. We had to check back in at the college between 10 and 11 every night. I felt very safe since Cambridge is not that big, but it is not that small.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Since the only thing that you really have to pay for is lunch, a budget is easily manageable.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I probably spent an average of $75 a week on food and snacks.

Comments: I loved this course. There were many great field trips that we took (I won't spoil them for you here). The teacher was very well-prepared. She made the class lively and fun. I enjoyed the class while still learning a lot. We had homework every day, and we had one essay throughout the month. We also had a final project that was to create an advertising pitch for a product of your choice. Our homework every night was short. It was to write a daily tweet for our twitter account which you can check out here https://twitter.com/amccCamTrad for more insight into the class.
