Oxbridge Academic Programs: Oxford - The Oxford Tradition

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I left Oxbridge with several strong friendships, as well as a deeper education of what I am interested in, resulting in a clearer view of my passions. This trip was unbelievably worthwhile, I gained so much more being in Oxford than being back at home.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I took International Relations and Neuropsychology courses, but my depth of learning spanned far beyond those bounds. I made friends with people from the other side of the world, and we still keep in touch! I was astonished by the faculty, my International Relations teacher works as a representative and consultant for Venuatu and Palau! As a student interested in this field, this fascinated me!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I was impressed by the quality of the education, as well as the wealth of resources and opportunities in Oxford. We were within walking distance of everything one could need or want, with both great food and renowned museums just blocks away! We were one with the community. By the end of my time in Oxford, I was giving tourists directions, like a true local!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 100 pounds/week
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Spend your money on experiences, not just "stuff". You're going to want the typical souvenir sweatshirt or something of the like, but focus on what you can't take home!

You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!
