Palacky University: Olomouc - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
It was worth every penny. It gave me a whole new outlook on life and has me clawing to go back. Anyone who wants to go on this trip will not regret it.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The knowledge that I gained about the history of the Czech Republic will never be duplicated by any class I could ever take in the United States. With the ability to experience things up close and personal and hear it from people who experienced it really made the learning process special. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The Palacky University advisors were the best anyone could ask for. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Awesome. So many different types of cultures in one building made everyday a new adventure. |
* Food: |
Always be open to trying new things. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I was able to get on the field and photograph soccer events, photograph a world track meet, photograph rugby matches, got to experience world historical landmarks, and lived out dreams. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I felt very safe, but health issues were a concern. Most of the group was sick for the first month but it was unclear how to treat it. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Be prepared for the unexpected. Always over-guess on what you might spend because you never know what may pop up (volcanos). |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
|
Language acquisition improvement? |
Learned how to speak a little bit of Czech and it has actually been put to use in the first couple of months back in the States. |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | The type of student that would benefit the most from this program is one who wants to experience life outside of the United States. You must have that exploring nature in order to get your full value out of the trip. If you are a student that keeps to themselves and doesn't like to socialize, this may not be for you. Of course, if you are that student, and you are looking to break out of your shell, then this will open your eyes immensely. |
