What if you could be steps from anywhere you ever wanted to be. Past Review
By A student (Photography, School of Visual Arts) - abroad from 01/12/2015 to 05/18/2015 with
Paris College of Art: Paris - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
I learned more of a language. I made lifelong friends. I had the experience of living completely on my own and being somewhere I might never be again. It was completely worthwhile.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I feel as though its more difficult to feel culturally connected when you dont speak the language. Also I was in Paris during a difficult time for the Parisians and there were topics of conflict which I had no right to speak on. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Pharmacys are really great places to go when you have a minor cold. The workers there are trained to tell you what medicine you need and what may be the problem. |
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I like to eat out and eat fancy foods. Restaurants in Paris are expensive but great quality food and totally worth it. |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Cook at home, dont eat so much baguette and cheese. At first that seems like a really good idea but youll regret it later. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
Not at school but encouraged us to learn and talk outside or classes |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Beginner |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | If you know how to say it, then say it. Listen to how people stay stuff and pick up on words. Next chance you have, use them. |
