France: Have A Lot Of Money Past Review

By (ENGLISH, CUNY - Brooklyn College) for

Paul Valery University, Montpellier III: Montpellier - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it was worthwhile. I meet a lot of great people and students from all over the world. I actually meet a girl from Ghana there and she sent me an instant message on facebook. Maybe someday in the future if I ever stay in her country somewhere near to her, I can visit her. My French skills got much better.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Let me start off by saying that my French really improved after this program (not that I'm good enough to write a song) but I think what really helped me was the fact that my professor only spoke to me in French and that forced me to understand everything she said. Also many of her excersises were very effective. She brought up controversial topics which the class had to debate in French and being the passionate person that I am, I had to debate my point to the end in French.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program administrator left the country after the first week.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

There was security on sight, and there were two locked doors in order to get to the rooms. We did have a stove and a fridge, but no pots and pans. The shower was the size of a finger snap.

* Food:

FOOD WAS NOT INCLUDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Great, we had many excursions, the tour information was given in both English and French.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I did not have any health issue during my stay neither did anyone in my program so I do not know how they would have solved a health issue, so I didnt give it a rating.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Direct Enrollment
