Penn State Altoona: Traveling - Motor Heads in Germany

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was a good life experience. I don't think I will be going to Germany any time soon so it was nice to go when I could. The German people are very nice and Germany seems very relaxed no one is in any kind a rush it seems.

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

the faculty leaders that came on this trip had a lot of knowledge about the subject that we were studying. Also the coordinator we had on the trip were very helpful.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

food was AMAZING

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Touring around like the Stuttgart Radio Tower or the English Gardens was a lot of fun. Nice sight seeing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

everywhere we went seemed to be pretty safe. When we went to Munich a soccer game was being played and the police there were in full riot gear, so they were ready for anything.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $400 mostly food and drink it was hard to get use to the money conversion
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? remember the Euro is just about 1.5 dollars so if you see a price and don't think its expensive just add half the price to what you see.
