So chill Past Review
By A student (Economics., Wellesley College) - abroad from 01/25/2014 to 05/27/2014 with
PRESHCO: Study Abroad in Córdoba, Spain
I loved living in Spain with my friends who were going through the same immersion process. It was a lot of fun and a good break from Wellesley.

Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Definitely not as strenuous as Wellesley. But enough to be engaging. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
SO good, especially Chris, the program director. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Loved my host mom. Couldn't have asked for better. |
* Food: |
Accommodating and quite good as a traditional thing. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It's kinda similar to American culture (and enough is imported for it to be immediately relatable). I don't feel like I made a huge effort to integrate though, apart from speaking the language and eating and sleeping on different schedules. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Always accessible and preventative. |
* Safety: |
Never really felt unsafe, even walking at night. Some of my companions got some really racist comments directed at them though, so this might be a little skewed. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
For personal reasons. I liked to travel and eat well BUT there was ample allowances every time we went somewhere as a group AND all the essentials were paid for. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 277 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Don't eat out and book any flights/travel outside of the program as early as you can. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
All the time. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Intermediate |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Advanced |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | SPAN 253 |
How many hours per day did you use the language? | |
Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? | It's hard but using Spanish with your friends/all the time is the best way to learn. Also making Spanish friends and hanging out with the tutors. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
