London: Making the greatest experience out of a terrible abroad school. Past Review
By Emily I (Mechanical Engineering., Villanova University) for
Queen Mary University of London Study Abroad programme
Yes, I made it amazing and worth while but Villanova and Queen Mary did not assist me nearly enough and I regret going to that school.

Review Your Program
|
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The workload was easy, the grading was different and it would have been nice if someone explained that instead of having to figure it out on my own. There is no homework or quizzes, the entire grade is based solely on a final which is very different. The lectures are huge and the teachers have no interest in getting to know you. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The school was not helpful and provided students with nothing but aggravation. |
|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The housing was nice because I had my own room and bathroom. However, there was a shared kitchen that was gross. And the school didn't provide any cookware or sheets. That made it very different when I first arrived. |
| * Food: |
Basically the same as America, except they don't have buffalo chicken. |
|
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
The school (Villanova and Queen Mary) didn't help me with this at all. Traveling and exploring around the UK were the greatest things I could've done. |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
| * Safety: |
In a bad area. It is nice that there is a campus which is safe but you're either on campus or go to the tube, the area around campus is not nice or safe. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
|
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
