I learned so much valuable information about Northern Ireland's ethno-national conflict and gained insight into their politics, culture, society, sociology, etc. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in peace and conflict studies!

* What did you like most about the program?
  • CIEE directed independent research
  • CIEE field-trips and classes about the local history and culture
  • direct enrollment into Queen's University Belfast
* What could be improved?
  • more field-trips/classes that give insight into both sides of the conflict
  • more availability of weekend homestays with local families
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had known more about my own American culture before going abroad so that I could speak to them more about it and it wouldn't have been as much of a cultural shock meeting Americans from all over the US. Honestly though, UOP's Cross Cultural class was so helpful that I felt really prepared.
