Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
had to keep class journals for each class, write essays for each, used the british grading system |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
they were very helpful in making us feel safe and at home, wanted us to hve a great experience, classes were small and you knew everyone |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
we lived on holloway road in bloomfield court student housing where you had to have your key card to get in to two front doors and your flat door and your room door in the flat so i felt very safe. The street when we first arrived was culture shock because it looked very sketchy but after living there i always felt safe there. It is a 15 min walk to holloway tube station then 20 min tube ride to class, switching at kings cross to get to baker street station and then a 5 min walk to campus. as far as night life, a night bus drops off right in front of housing and is relatively close to everything. i bought sheets, a duvet cover, pillows and pillow cases.. ikea essentials etc. |
* Food: |
im super picky so i disliked alot of the food, it was very bland and yucky to me. like the bacon (if it wasnt streaky bacon) is a huge thick hunk of ham |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
loved experiencing all the daytrips around england and the paris trip with all my friends. I loved meeting all these amazing people american and european and hopefully being lifelong friends with them all. Two of my friends lived in london and they had cars and that was a really cool experience to drive around london with them. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
just be aware and smart, always make sure people know where you are and not walking alone at 4am or something. but even then i had friends who ended up in situations like that and people helped them home safely |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | around 100 pounds id say, sometimes more. oyster cards monthly for transportation were about 100 pounds |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | lots of clubs and pubs have cover charges that can be expensive and you def want to shop at oxford street or the cool vintage markets. |
