Adventure of a lifetime Past Review
By Aidan K (Economics and Finance, University of Hartford) - abroad from 08/27/2014 to 12/15/2014 with
Regent’s University London: Direct Enrollment & Exchange
It was definitely worthwhile. I learned about English culture and how they act on a daily basis.

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Fairly satisfied, except that construction happened early in the morning more times than not, and we were under a stairwell that was rather noisy in the morning. |
* Food: |
Not as many choices as I am used to, and there was no food at school on Saturdays. Quality was pretty good. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We were living with study abroad students, mostly Americans, but most classes had other international students. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I felt fairly confident and safe in London, although I know it generally isn't very safe. Most people keep to themselves so just try to blend in. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No

Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It was rather difficult to stay on budget mostly because of the exchange rates. If a bag of chips was $2 here, it would be £2 there, except that is really $3+. Also wanting to do everything while you're there is tricky because you need to pick and choose with a restricted budget. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $100, sometimes more |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Save money and take over about $3000 if you want to have a nice time. I took over about $2200 or so and felt restricted. It's good to budget no matter how much you take so that you don't run out of money in the end (like I did). |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
