What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned that London is a great place full of culture, fun events and great people!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I throughly enjoyed my classes. I got an opportunity to take courses that were not offered at my home university. The courses ranged in difficulty, but the style of teaching was something that I really liked.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I thought the rooms themselves were great, but I paid for a single room because of health issues and multiple issues and never got one even though there were several single rooms open through the middle of the semester.

* Food:

Food itself was great but the meal plan was horrible. There were days that all i could eat was milk in the morning and a side caesar salad for lunch and dinner. The meal plan did not give you a lot of money - it almost seemed the school expected everyone had money and was rich.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I got to become part of London. I explored all over London and never had a problem. I adapt fairly quickly, and being from New York, London was easy to adapt to.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Felt very safe on campus and off. I made sure to always travel with someone because walking after the back gate closes is weird and slightly unsafe by yourself.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

I did not have an easy time living on my budget. I took out a loan so that I would have about 2400 USD and I spent most of it on food because the meal plan ran out very quickly.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About $100 USD before my meal plan ran out, then about $250 USD after.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you want to travel, make sure to bring at least $4500 USD. If you plan on shopping on a normal basis, budget accordingly. Also, if you have a traveling class, make sure to refill your Oyster card so it is beneficial to you (refill more at one time than 2 pounds each time). Lastly, make sure to look for coupons before going to restaurants, Boots etc. Saved me a lot of money!
