Regent’s University London: Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Everything. I feel to be more rounded as a person and I understand different cultures now which is extremely helpful in business. This experience is more worthwhile than I can express. It is an opportunity of a life time and everyone should participate if they have the chance.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The educational experience was wonderful. The teachers help you adapt to being there on study abroad and they do their best to help with the academics and versatility. The resources on campus were well provided through the teacher, course or on campus library.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Everyone was incredible and helpful. The staff in the classroom, housing facility, cafeteria and brasserie were all warm and welcoming.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Typical dorm experience but slightly better. You are living in central location next to Baker Street so it doesn't get better. The rooms and restrooms were always clean and well maintained and downstairs provided a nice common area were everyone gathered. The staff (William and Jonathon were PHENOMENAL)

* Food:

cafeteria allows for quite the variety for different meal times and the brasserie is always a step up offering pizzas, pastas, etc which are all delicious.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt I integrated well with local culture. Like I stated you are in central London and everything is at your fingertip. Also, classes such as Victoria Gardner's are great because you learn in class but also take field trips and get to see and experience the culture first hand, not just on paper.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

No experience with this.

* Safety:

I felt London was very safe. Obviously avoid certain areas like any place you live or visit but overall the location of the school and surrounding areas were safe. Always be aware of pick pockets though because those are quite common. Take a purse with a zipper and men carry your wallet in your front pocket!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If you consistently eat on campus and have the meal plan plus living on campus it is quite affordable because the only expenses are on the tube and social/material/adventure type things. I personally wanted to experience the culture so I spent a bit more taking everything in and doing the trips offered by the college. I also took advantage of low cost airline like RyanAir and Easy Jet as well as hostels and traveled quite often. You can make it a minimal cost experience or an extravagant one. It really is based on your budget.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 200 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you are budgeted eat on campus. Also take advantage of activities around London like the museums because they are free.
